The German government refused to recognize the legitimacy of Alexander Lukashenko as President of Belarus, however, considers it necessary negotiations with him to assist migrants. This was stated by the official representative of the Cabinet of FRG Shteaffen Zaibert, reports TASS.
According to him, contacts with Minsk are needed to “improve the harmfulness of the humanitarian situation for thousands of people.”
Earlier, Lukashenko in a conversation with the temporarily acting Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel put forward an ultimatum in exchange for termination of the migration crisis at the borders of the countries of the European Union.
