In the press service of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, disclosed the details of the telephone conversation with the temporarily acting Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, transfers BelTA.
Minsk argues that the parties discussed the migration crisis and “came to a certain understanding, how to act and move on in solving the issues available.”
Lukashenko and Merkel agreed that the problem as a whole was put on the level of Belarus and the European Union. Officials will be appointed from both sides who will immediately begin negotiations. “In the same context, the desire of refugees will fall into Germany,” added to the press service.
In addition, as stated in the administration of the Belarusian leader, Merkel passed Lukashenko’s request from the head of the European Commission of Ursula von der Layen on participation in the process of international organizations involved in refugees and migrants. Lukashenko and Merkel agreed on further contacts.
The first time the leaders of Belarus and Germany were phoned on November 15, after which Lukashenko said that “introduced a proposal on the interchange situation,” but did not voice the details.
Meanwhile, Estonian Foreign Minister Eva Maria Liimets stated that Lukashenko in exchange for termination of the migration crisis demanded from EU leaders to recognize his legitimacy as president and relieve sanctions from Belarus.
