In Russia, over the past 10 years, alcohol consumption has decreased among citizens aged 15 years and over third – from 15.8 to 10.8 liters per year. This was told by Izvestia.
Analyst noted that alcohol in the country becomes less affordable. At the same time, she clarified that it is not only about price increases, but also about restriction on remote sale, temporary allowable alcohol purchase limits that were further reduced by regions, ban on advertising in this product.
According to Cossarean, when strong alcohol is becoming more expensive, it is replaced by low alcohol drinks. In turn, against the background of growing demand, manufacturers will raise prices for products. It will also affect accessibility and on the volume of consumption, it added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance offered to raise prices for strong alcohol. From January 1, 2022, the minimum retail prices for vodka should grow by 7.4 percent, from 243 to 261 rubles per bottle of half-liter. In addition, prices for cognac will increase – by 7.6 percent, from 446 to 480 rubles for the same volume. Brandy cost will grow from 324 to 348 rubles.
As explained to the publication analyst FS “Finam” Alexey Korenev, the main purpose of this department initiative is to replenish the treasury with additional influxulations.
