The US Department of Defense worries due to a record more than 30 years of inflation in the United States. It is reported by the Defense One portal.
As the sources of publication told, inflation rates force the leadership of the Pentagon to prepare for raising wages and an increase in the cost of weapons. As Robert Hale explained, who worked as an agency’s auditor during the presidency of Barack Obama, higher inflation will result in contractors to pay more for their employees. In turn, this means that the price of weapons will also increase.
Defense Sector Companies that have already encountered supply chains due to the COVID-19 pandemic, also warned that inflation can lead to an increase in the cost of weapons according to some current and future contracts. At the same time, the financial inspector of Pentagon Mike McCord noted that it would not happen overnight.
Last week it became known that the consumer price index in the United States rose by 6.2 percent year in annual terms. This is the highest growth for more than 30 years – the price jump has become the highest since 1991.
