The French government announced a plan to combat prostitution of minors, calling it an “disturbing and increasing problem.” A plan worth 14 million euros will be implemented within 2021 and 2022, reports EURONEWS edition.
According to the Secretary of State for Adrian Children, now from 7,000 to 10,000 children in France are involved in prostitution. He also noted that this number is constantly increasing. “Half of them are girls, half – boys, they are engaged in prostitution from the age of 14. This applies to all social layers,” said it.
The authorities are planning to help affected families whose children were involved in this business. Many resources will also be directed to inform, raising the awareness of the children themselves at school, to teach adults who contact them: teachers, social workers, police and gendarmerie.
euronews reports that the goal of the plan is to teach society better to recognize “signals”, to understand that the teenager is likely to engage in prostitution. It may be a change in behavior, classes of classes, alienation or escape from home.
The government also wants pressure on the platform for renting apartments, since it is the rental premises often use pimps. The Minister of Justice, Eric Dupon-Maretti, said that French Chairmanship in the European Union would prevent measures to force rental sites to respond to investigations relating to trade or hypotherapies against minors.
Armen Le Bigo-Maca, President of the ACPE Association, which struggle with children’s prostitution, called these statements by a real step forward. “I first feel that the authorities are ready to fight prostitution of minors,” she said.
Earlier in France, the military from Eastern Europe was detained on suspicion of pimp. All six soldiers were made at once a few charges: “Himself with aggravating circumstances”, “Trafficking in persons”, “money laundering” and “participation in the criminal community”.
