Sentenced to eleven years in prison, Friday, November 12, amnestied on the following Monday, and now back on the American soil: Danny Fenster, the American journalist who worked for a Burmese media and was arrested on May 24 at the Rangoun Airport, school cases of “Hostd Diplomacy”, is now one of “parallel diplomacy”.
The one led by the former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Bill Richardson, Artisan of many releases of “hostages” American foreign regimes (Iran, North Korea …). The news was revealed Monday by a tweet of his organization, the Richardson Center, with a photo of the journalist alongside “Global Diplomat” Richardson on the Tarmac at Naypyidaw Airport on November 15th.

With a long experience with Burma – he obtained one of Aung San Suu Kyi’s first releases in 1995 – Mr. Richardson had come to Naypyidaw in early November, offer “humanitarian solutions” to Min Aung Hlaing, General Putschist leader of the junta. In his public statements, the American had indicated that he had not mentioned, with his interlocutor, the question of his imprisoned compatriot – which had triggered A flood of criticism against Twitter and in The press from those responsible for human rights NGOs.
