The EU Council at the level of defense ministers approved 14 new pan-European defense projects. This is reported by TASS with reference to the appropriate Council Statement.
“New projects are a new step towards joint investments, developing and creating in defense projects, especially aircraft and space technology,” pointed out in the association. In particular, the approved projects include the creation of unmanned and semi-autonomous military equipment, as well as the system of passive protection of spacecraft.
The EU Council also reported that in the union planning to modernize the military transportation of large-sized cargoes, to create new types of small warships, small arms, defense systems in cyber space and energy sources for drone drones.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy Jozep Borrol said that the EU is ready to start negotiations with Washington on the US admission to the defense and military-industrial projects of the association. Thus, the American side will gain access to participation in the European policy projects of a permanent structured defense partnership (PESCO), which includes plans to create new weapons, defense equipment, the development of common opportunities in cyber-space.
