In Russia, they wanted to prepare measures to contain prices for sugar and vegetable oil. This is stated on the instructions of Vita Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko, which was directed on November 8 in the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), reports RBC.
Representative Abramchenko confirmed the information. The press service of the FAS and the Ministry of Economic Development reported that they received an order.
Vice-Prime Minister asks to submit a forecast for domestic prices for sugar and vegetable oil, as well as prepare proposals for their containment. She also called on to take into account the “World Trend Raising Food Price.” In the Ministry of Agriculture, noted that this year the production of sugar beet and sunflower is expected to increase, therefore the harvest “will ensure the domestic market for processing products in the required volumes.”
To preserve stable prices, the agency considers the possibility of introducing a tariff quota for imports of sugar and sugar-raw in 2022. At the same time, in the market of sunflower oil, the Ministry of Agriculture allowed the possibility of revising the “floating” duties in the direction of magnification with a sharp increase in the cost of sunflower in Russia and the world.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dmitry Patrushev, said that the government would increase the support of manufacturers of vegetables and meat to prevent the deficit of products. According to him, the cost of meat and vegetables is growing, in this background the state decided to increase the support of these industries and work with networks.
