Moscow can put Minsk missile complexes “Iskander-M”, but only in the case of a real military threat to Belarus. Such a condition was named the former head of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Colonel Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov. His words on Sunday, November 14, brings “Interfax”.
He noted that this is envisaged by joint military planning, and the issue of supplying complexes has repeatedly climbed into a discussion between the military ministries of the two countries.
According to Ivashov, the Russian “Iskander” is a very effective and high-precision weapon. The general also reminded that the rockets of the complex can be equipped with a nuclear warhead.
November 13, in an interview with the Russian magazine “National Defense”, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk was interested in obtaining Russian missile systems “Iskander”. According to him, they are needed in the western and southern directions.
