Poland’s authorities plan until the end of the first half of 2022 to build a fence on the border with Belorussia. Such details revealed the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Mariusha Kaminsky on RMF FM radio station.
The Minister of Internal Affairs also noted that the length of the structure will be 180 kilometers, and the height is 5.5 meters. According to him, during construction, the most modern solutions will be involved.
“Along the Bug River we use another type of safety systems. We are constantly provoked, but our services are well prepared,” Kaminsky added.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that at present, the border with Belarus is protected by 13 thousand Polish servicemen, 4.5 thousand border guards and two thousand policemen.
Earlier in October, the Poland government adopted a bill on the construction of fence on the border with Belarus. The document will be directed from the Cabinet of Ministers to the lower chamber of Poland’s Parliament (Sejm). It involves the construction of a high and reliable fencing equipped with a motion monitoring and detection system.
Since the beginning of 2021, people began to flow to the border of Belarus with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The crisis sharply aggravated on November 8 after several thousand people approached the border of Poland from the Belarusian side.
