The US Army first raised the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter into the air equipped with a unmanned flight system. The helicopter committed a test flight at the Humma Polygon in Arizona in early November. About it reports Defence Express with reference to Flight Global magazine.
The management of prospective research projects of the US Defense Ministry (DARPA) conducted a helicopter testing as part of Project Convergence. The purpose of maneuvers was to work out the use of unmanned helicopters for the supply of troops.
BLACK HAWK exercise script was used to supply troops in the enemy’s rear. The unmanned helicopter allowed us to exclude the risk of pilot loss in the zone of action of enemy air defense systems.
The publication notes that the helicopter completed the task of supplying troops and first made an autonomous landing on the unprepared platform.
