The Department of Correctional Institutions will check the effectiveness of therapy using animals. According to the Minister of Justice, Somsak Thapswork, the department together with animal associations and shelters are looking for dogs for the project. It is not clear how much time prisoners will spend with pets. It is reported that the arrestant will pick up a dog that will correspond to its character and temperament. In addition, prisoners will be taught correctly handle animals and care for them.

If such an initiative is successful, the authorities intend to distribute it to other correctional institutions of the country.
