Capital outflow from Russia sharply accelerated

Following the first ten months of the current year, the outflow of capital from Russia accelerated sharply – 65.7 billion dollars vs. $ 42.7 billion in the same period in the 2020th. This is evidenced by a preliminary assessment of the Bank of Russia, reports RIA Novosti.

The regulator indicated that the positive balance of financial operations of the private sector increased most of the operations of other sectors on the placement of assets abroad.

The balance of payments in January-October 2021 grew 3.1 times compared with the same period a year ago, to 94.4 billion dollars. A positive foreign trade balance increased by 1.9 times in annual terms, up to $ 142.1 billion.

For the last week, from October 29 to November 5, Russia’s international reserves decreased by 0.2 percent, up to 622.1 billion dollars. This happened due to negative revaluation.

In July of this year, the Central Bank significantly raised the forecast for the outflow of capital in 2021 – from $ 35 billion to 50 billion. At the same time, the final figure of 2020 was twice the data for 2019.
