Scientists of the North-Eastern Federal University introduced a new method for diagnosing immunity against the SARS-COV-2 virus. The ELISPOT approach is the identification of specific cytokines, which are allocated when the lymphocytes are activated in response to a viral infection. This is reported in a press release of SVFU.
immunity is divided into humoral and cellular, while humoral is determined by the activity of antibodies that play the role of signaling factors reporting the body about the presence of an antigen. After that, immune cells are activated – phagocytes that recognize the virus associated with antibodies and absorb it through phagocytosis. After that, immunity forms cellular memory. Cellular immunity may remain weak despite the high concentration of antibodies. Elispot is used by coronavirus vaccine developers to assess their effectiveness. The method is being implemented in collaboration with the research and production company Generium from the Vladimir region, one of the producers of the vaccine “Satellite V”.
Earlier it was reported that Russian scientists from Yakutia with the help of artificial intelligence learned to identify the lungs in patients with COVID-19, for diagnostics using computer tomography leaves 15 seconds.
