A way to help patients with Alzheimer’s disease

Researchers from Canada found out that multiple listening to a considerable music helps the development of the brain plasticity in patients with a decreased cognitive ability or Alzheimer’s disease in the early stages. Article Professionals Published in Journal Of Alzheimer’s Disease.

14 people participated in the experiment of scientists from the university – six musicians and eight ordinary people. Within three weeks, each of them listened to the playlist specially selected by researchers from personally significant melodies within an hour. Before and after this period, the participants of the experiment conducted a functional magnetic resonance imaging, during which they listened to, both familiar and similar to style, but did not have personal importance to music.

In the second case, the brain activity was concentrated mainly in the auditory cortex of the brain. However, when listening to a well-known music, the subjects activated the network of neurons in various brain regions, in particular, in the prefrontal korea, the brain control center and in subcortical structures of the brain. In this case, the activation of this network changed after a period of listening to a familiar music – which indicates, according to researchers, on the development of neuroplasticity. At the same time, scientists celebrate, the work of the brain in the musicians and the nomizkants vary in different ways.
