Acting Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel expects that Russian President Vladimir Putin will call her back after the last conversation held on November 10 and dedicated to the migration crisis on the border of Belarus with the EU. This found out Bloomberg, reports RBC.
According to the interlocutor of publication in the authorities in the EU, the new conversation is expected to the night, but before that, the Russian leader should be phoned with the Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko. “Merkel handed Putin a clear message that he needed to talk to Lukashenko,” he said.
Earlier it was reported that Merkel did not intentionally call the President of Belarus directly, and instead she contacted him bypass – through the President of Russia. Official representative of the Cabinet of Germany FRG Shteaffen Zabert explained such an act by the fact that Lukashenko himself does not go with Merkel to communicate. Also asked Putin to influence Lukashenko due to the situation with migrants in the Belarusian-Polish border. She also noted that events on the border of the European Union and Belarus give a reason for concern.
In the Kremlin, in turn, they said that the conversation took place on the initiative of the German side. “The situation with refugees at the borders of Belarus with the EU countries is considered in detail. The humanitarian consequences of the migration crisis are expressed,” the press service said.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and EU countries began after the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko threatened to weaken control over the flow of refugees and drug trafficking. This happened against the background of the next exacerbation of relations between Minsk and the West.
