EU Reaction
The European Union (EU) has previously announced the willingness to introduce new sanctions against Belarus against about 30 individuals and legal entities. The Foreign Minister Vladimir Makay and the Belarusian airline “Belavia” can enter this list.
EU and NATO accused the President of Alexander Lukashenko to use migrants as an instrument to the west. The next package of sanctions was attracted against Belarusian officials, who, in the opinion of the EU, organized the arrival of migrants to retaliation for restrictions on Minsk.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in turn added that the EU is ready to tighten the sanctions against the Belarusian authorities due to the influx of migrants to the border with Poland.
According to Maas, in the European Union, they consider important and “explanatory work in the countries of origin” of illegal migrants. He explained that it was about readiness not to give false promises, because of which migrants “pay thousands of dollars” and which “lead them into Belarusian forests.”
Poland’s reaction
Poland President Angey Duda accused the Belarusian authorities in preventing humanitarian assistance to refugees who are located on the Belarusian-Polish border. He noted that Warsaw had already sent convoys with a gumproof, but Minsk blocked the border and did not allow the delivery of goods for migrants.
Duda called the “unprecedented massive hybrid attack” from the Belarus at the border. He stressed that Warsaw was ready for such a development of events, as the crisis provoked by the Belarusian regime continues for a long time.
