Huma Therapeutics employees analyzed the data of more than 88 thousand participants in the UK Biobank study. Information about when they fell asleep and wake up, gathered with the help of accelerometers wearable on the wrist over seven days. In addition, scientists also recorded their physical condition and social status.
The health of the participants was tracked for six years. Scientists have found that during this time, cardiovascular diseases developed in 3172 participants (3.6 percent). Most often they were subject to those who went to bed at midnight and later, less – those who flooded in a segment from 22:00 to 22:59. The researchers analyzed the relationship between the waste time to sleep and cardiovascular diseases, taking into account the concomitant factors – the duration and regularity of sleep, a man chronotype, and so on.
It turned out that those who flooded at midnight or later, the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases compared to those who flooded at 22: 00-23: 00, was 25 percent higher. By 24 percent above, he was those who went to sleep before this period, by 12 percent – in those who did it from 23:00 to 24:00. Further analysis showed that the connection with the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases was stronger in women, among men, she remained significant only for those who were flooded earlier 22:00.
