Robots taught social skills

Specialists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) taught robots to social interaction. This is reported on the organization’s website.

The report says that modern robots are able to perform difficult work, but even the most perfect of them are not designed for social interaction. Engineers managed to create algorithms, on the basis of which the machines perceive other smart devices and are trying to establish contact with them. According to the authors, their model creates realistic and predictable social interactions.

As an example, scientists told that robots analyze the behavior of other machines to understand their goals and objectives. So, if one of the robots is going to pour a tree, then the other can help him in this – to give a watering can, bring water. According to engineers, in this case, basic social skills are formed between robots.

Interaction between machines is necessary for a faster solution to certain tasks. So, in a two-dimensional environment, which scientists have created, robots receive positive assessments for the help of other devices and negative – in case the car prevented by its actions to another robot. “Robots will soon begin to live in our world, and they really need to learn to communicate with us on the human principle,” said Boris Katz.

Earlier, the head of the laboratory of robotics of Sberbank Alexey Gonokhenko said that the appearance of the future robots differs from the generally accepted. According to him, the cars will not look like people.
