German environmentalists demanded to stop “Northern Stream-2” 6 November

Head of the Non-Profit Organization for Environmental Protection Deutsche Umwellfe (DUH) Sasha Muller-Krenner called to stop “Northern Flood-2” due to the “ignoring” of the FRG authorities of the Polish position on the gas pipeline issue. This is reported by Spiegel.

“The federal government ignores the reasonable fears of our neighbors,” Muller-Krenner said. In his opinion, the gas pipeline threatens the energy security of Europe and compliance with climatic purposes.

This is not the first attempt of ecologists from DUH to prevent project implementation. In June, activists insisted on a temporary stopping of the pipeline laying to assess its environmental impact.

Construction of “Northern Flow-2” ended on September 10. In early November, the Ministry of Economy and Energy, Germany reported that the process of certification of the gas pipeline continues, the completion date of the procedure is still unknown.
