State Duma responded to Germany’s doubts about launch of “Northern Flow-2”

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy Igor Anansky commented on the information on the doubts of Germany in the launch of the “Northern Flow-2” (SP-2). He told about it in a conversation with RT.

“The deadlines that were named is the maximum deadlines,” he replied and stressed that winter comes now, which means the need for Gaza will grow against the background of the beginning of the heating season. Anan expressed the hope that the decision to fill the gas pipeline and supply will be accepted operational.

“It will be beneficial first of all in Germany and all of Europe,” he stated.

previously it became known that German Bundestag’s deputies doubted the launch of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline until January 2022, they believe that at this point the certification will not end yet. In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany stated that the certification process of the Northern Flow-2 continues, the end date of the procedure is still unknown.

It is possible that the gas pipeline will start only in May 2022. As reported by Bloomberg, the Federal Network Agency FRG should make a preliminary decision on certification until January 8, then it will be transferred to a two-month consideration of the European Commission. Its verdict will not have a mandatory nature, but the theoretically, the process can stretch for another two months, until May 8. And only after that, the German regulator will be able to issue a license gas pipeline.

On the other hand, bureaucratic rolls can accelerate against the background of an aggravating energy crisis. The prices of gas in Europe in the fall rose sharply, in early October they approached the mark of $ 2,000 per thousand cubic meters, but then decreased and on November 4 are at the level of 1,000 dollars. For the acceleration of the launch of the Northern Flow-2, Prime Minister Bavaria Marcus Zedeger. According to him, the German authorities need a “price brake” and a gas strategy that will help the FRG to provide fuel supplies. Zeder noted that one of these measures should be an early commissioning of the gas pipeline. This decision should help stop the rise in gas prices, he believes.
