The Government of Russia adopted a resolution limiting the export of nitrogen and complex nitrogen-containing fertilizers from December 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.
Quota concerns the export to countries that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union and establishes a volume of 5.9 million tons for nitrogen fertilizers and 5.35 million tons for containing two or three nutritional elements – nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
Quota must be distributed between manufacturers until November 25.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin announced that the government introduces restrictions on the removal of nitrogen and complex nitrogen-containing fertilizers to avoid rising prices for products. He explained new measures to ensure the domestic fertilizer market, whose deficit can lead to an increase in food prices.
