Moldova’s authorities will make changes to the legislation in order for the country to preserve gas reserves for a certain period and not to remain without fuel in the crisis situation. This decision was stated by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa, her words leads TASS.
“We will amend legislation to increase the country’s energy security, including the obligation to have natural gas reserves for a certain period of time. We will introduce amendments that will provide the country’s energy security,” the head of the Moldovan Cabinan.
Gavrilitsa added that the changes in the law are needed to ensure that Moldova does not remain without gas reserves or alternative reserve fuel in case of crisis.
Moldavian side and Gazprom 29 October extended a gas contract for a period of five years. The Russian company called the conditions mutually beneficial. Alina Merlins, Advisor, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure of Moldova Andrei Spõna stated that the country will buy gas from Gazprom for the price below the market.
Moldova President Maya Sanda, in turn, reported that Chisinau was satisfied with the new agreements. The restructuring of debt to Gazprom, the parties will be discussed after the audit. The term of previous delivery arrangements expired at the end of September, after which the country collided with a gas crisis.
