Swiss student-robotics Ken Pillael put up for sale “The first iPhone world with USB-C”. This enthusiast reported on his blog on YouTube.
Enthusiast said that the Apple smartphone created by him with the USB-C port is unique and, apparently, the first similar device in the world. On the video, the engineer told how a month ago he managed to replace the standard Lightning connector to the USB-C port. In the video, the author clarified that he managed to copy the smartphone and integrate the new connector in the device.
A student spoke about the decision to sell a device with auction to eBay. The starting price of the apparatus with USB-C amounted to one dollar and rose to several thousand dollars in two days. At the time of this writing, the user who made the last bet, offered $ 4950 for the device.
Ken Pillael also noted that the installation method in the unique connector smartphone was described by them and is in free access. In this regard, anyone who has engineering skills can replace the standard iPhone interface.
Apple releases smartphones with Lightning connector since 2012. In May 2020, it became known that engineers tested the prototype iPhone with USB-C, but the company refused to introduce it.
