China asked Inter RAO to increase the volume of electricity supplies in November and December 2021 by roughly twice as compared with the same period of 2020. Since the beginning of October, Inter RAO increased the volume of electricity exported to China by 90 percent.
At the end of September in China, due to lack of electricity, electricity outages began in residential buildings and production. About 20 provinces and regions have introduced restrictions on its consumption. The situation serves as an additional blow to China’s coal industry, which is still the main source of electricity.
