The European Commission decided to develop new rules that will kill the EU member states (EU) to abandon fossil energy sources and switch to more eco-friendly fuel. The EU Plans told the Commissioner for Energy Cadry Simson.
politician noted that Europe moves to decarbonization, and therefore fossil gas will be replaced by biomethane, electric fuel or environmentally friendly hydrogen. Simson promised in December 2021 to submit a package of rules for the gas market, which will include stimulating measures for the energy transition.
Energy Commissioner noted that the crisis with which Europe faced was caused by the dependence of countries from fossil fuels. “We must act and make the right measures to not only protect Europeans here and now, but also create conditions for stronger energy security in the future of clean energy,” Simson said.
The transition to renewable energy sources is a long-term measure to overcome the energy crisis. Earlier in October, Cadri Simson has already voiced options that can help Europeans in the short term. For example, the Commissioner invited the EU authorities to partially compensate for the inhabitants of the increased electricity bills, allow delays to pay and reduce taxes for vulnerable groups of the population.
