Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministry of Internal Affairs) of Tajikistan prexized the major channel of drug trafficking from Afghanistan. This was reported in the press service of the department, writes “Sputnik Tajikistan.”
In the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated the preventive activity of a transnational criminal group, which delivered drugs from Afghanistan to Europe through the countries of Central Asia.
It is noted that Tajik law enforcement officers were also able to delay one of the largest batch of drugs in five years. In total, more than 473 kilograms of drugs were withdrawn from criminals: over 225 kilograms of Hashisha, 169 kilograms of opium and 79 kilograms of heroin. Their cost in the black market is estimated in more than six million dollars.
During the operation, participants in the grouping were also detained. It included citizens of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The gang leader was a 45-year-old resident of Dushanbe, previously convicted in Russia on charges of fraud and illicit drug trafficking.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Tajikistan Sim. Yatimov told about increasing the smuggling of weapons and drugs from Afghanistan over the past few months. He noted that such a tendency carries the security threat to all CIS countries.
