Loss of orientation in the space of the International Space Station (ISS) lasted 30 minutes and did not imagine a threat to the crew. Such details revealed the NASA representative, reports TASS.
As they say in a statement by the representative of the American Space, at 05:02 by the time of the east coast of the United States (12:02 in Moscow), “the controlling flight from the Russian side conducted a planned test switching on the Soyuz MS-18 ship’s engines.” After closing the test window, the operation of the engines unexpectedly continued that 05:13 (12:13 in Moscow) led to the loss of control over the orientation of the ISS.
The NASA clarified that now the ISS is in a stable state. The flight control continues to evaluate the data on the loss of the orientation station due to the inclusion of engines, NASA and Roscosmos cooperate to establish the causes of what happened.
Earlier it was reported that the reason for the temporary loss of the ISS orientation in space was associated with an incorrect land procedure.
On Friday, October 15, it became known that the ISS lost orientation in space when testing the Soyuz MS-18 ship’s engines. Later in the Roskosmospinal Corporation “Energia” (“Roscosmos”) confirmed that the interference was successfully eliminated.
