Head of Academy of FSB of Russia appointed head of CIS Anti-Terrorism Center

Head of the Academy of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia Yevgeny Sysoev approved the head of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was announced by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting of the Council of Heads of the CIS states, BelTA reports.

During the meeting, President Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon noted that the military-political crisis in Afghanistan is a serious security threat to the CIS countries. The head of state also reminded the creation of a single list of terrorist organizations, whose activities are prohibited in the territory of the Commonwealth countries.

In early September, the head of the Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) of the CIS Andrei Novikov said that terrorist activity within Afghanistan can threaten countries, and urged to strengthen the vigilance of units in this matter. He noted that, in addition to the Radical Movement of the Taliban (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia), other international terrorist organizations operate in Afghanistan.
