President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the collapse of the USSR “Forced collapse”. With such a statement, he acted at a meeting of the Council of Heads of the CIS states, which is carried out in video conferencing mode, transfers BelTA.
“There are different points of view about the cessation of the existence of the Soviet Union, and if more precisely, its forced collapse. My negative attitude towards these events is well known,” said Lukashenko.
At the same time, he considered the formation of the CIS to the right decision. “In that critical situation, the creation of such an integration” dome “, accustomed to the former union republics from chaos and the economic collapse, was most likely a rightful decision,” said Lukashenko.
According to him, in 30 years, the CIS passed a difficult path and became a regional organization recognized by the international community.
In August, Lukashenko accused the ex-president of Russia Boris Yeltsin and the First President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev in the collapse of the Soviet Union. He stated that Yeltsin and Gorbachev suffered a personal hostility and the struggle for power to the whole country.
