The United States will continue to adhere to its obligations in relations with Taiwan and will help to resist the threat emanating from the PRC. This was announced at the briefing a spokesman for the White House Jen Psaki.
According to her, the commitment of the USA Taiwan is dictated by the need to maintain peace and stability in the Strait and in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). “Our approach and our relations in the field of US defense are regulated by law on relationships with Taiwan [from 1979], and we will fulfill our obligations in accordance with this law,” the press secretary noted.
Psaki emphasized that the United States opposes any one-sided attempt to change the regional status quo. “Our support for Taiwan and defensive relationships with him are still united against the current threat coming from the People’s Republic of China,” she concluded.
Earlier, President Taiwan Tsai Invention stated that the country was ready to respond to a “Chinese threat” and would protect his democratic lifestyle. She stated that the island would not make reckless actions, but would strengthen his defense to “no one could force Taiwan to stand on the road laid for us.”
