Taiwanese company TSMC will build a plant for the production of semiconductors in Japan to compete with the global problem of chip deficiency. Technogant intends to satisfy the growing demand from automakers and technological companies in the long run, reports Reuters.
Run is expected by the end of 2024. At the new TSMC plant wants exactly the type of chips that enjoys the greatest demand from the company’s customers.
“TSMC works closely with its customers to plan the capacity and invest in advanced and specialized technologies to meet their demand,” said TSMC CEO Wei General Director. The company refused to disclose information on expenses and production facilities.
The global shortage of semiconductors played to the hand to manufacturers, since the revenues of the ten largest companies have grown record. According to TSMC, chip deficiency will continue in 2022 against the background of rapidly growing demand. Thanks to it, the company has increased profits in the third quarter by 13.8 percent – it amounted to $ 5.56 billion. Also, TSMC has increased revenge growth forecast for 2021 to about 24 percent compared with an earlier forecast – 20 percent – by referring to the sectoral trend of growing demand for chips.
