The international team of astronomers discovered the planet traded around the white dwarf similar to Jupiter. This is the first famous planet, who survived the death of the parent star without changing the orbit, notes scientists, the article of which was published in the Nature magazine.
The stars of the main sequence are such as the sun – at the end of their evolution produce all their hydrogen in the core and turn into red giants, which then reset their external shells and “compress” to the hard-to-beer dwarfs. At the same time, most of the stars appealing around the star is destroyed.
Researchers from Australia, USA and France with the help of a bracket observatory in Hawaii by the method of gravitational microhanzing – in which a closer object distorts the light of the latter stars – were able to find located in 6.5 thousand light years from the Earth, in two kiloparski from the Milky Center Ways, planet, 40 percent heavier than Jupiter. However, the search for the parent star has shown that this is not the star of the main sequence and not brown dwarf – its light was not enough likes.
“We were also able to exclude the possibility that it is a neutron star or a black hole. This means that the planet turns around a dead star – white dwarf. So we can see what our solar system will look like the extinction of the Earth” – Notes one of the researchers, an employee of the Paris Institute of Astrophysics Jean-Philip Parae. It is believed that the gas giants are treated around white dwarfs at a distance of five to six astronomical units – however, for a new-opening planet, the distance was 2.8 astronomical unit.
Despite the existing models of the evolution of stellar systems show that the planets of such sizes and such orbits can survive the death of their stars, previously evidence of their existence did not succeed, emphasize astronomers.
