The international team of astrophysics in 47 days discovered more than 1.6 thousand quick radio spells (FRB) from the same radio source. The article of researchers was published in the Nature magazine.
FRB – several millisecond radiimipuls, whose energy is comparable to the one that radiates the sun for tens of thousands of years. Since their detection in 2007, astronomers are engaged in an explanation of how and where these mysterious space signals arise, while tracking them with powerful radio telescope. In 2020, the first reliable source FRB was installed – Magnetary (neutron star with a strong magnetic field) in the constellation of chanterelles.
During testing of the FAST radio telescope – the world’s largest radio telescope with a closed aperture – researchers from China together with colleagues from Germany and the United States found that the pulse flow from FRB 121102 is the only known source of repetitive FRB and the first, the location of which in space is well established – Study. From August 29 to October 29, 2019, 1652 radio spells were recorded with a total duration of almost 60 hours. One day, 122 FRB was noted in an hour – the highest frequency for such phenomena.
“The total energy from this set of splashes is 3.8 percent of the magnetar available for magnetar. There was no frequency between millisecond and thousandth second. Both of these factors seriously limit the possibility that FRB 121102 is an isolated compact object,” one notes From researchers, employee of the National Astronomical Observatory of China Van Pei.
