Moldova Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa on the air of the Moldova 1 TV channel stated that the country refuses to recognize historical debt for gas. According to her, this is a very large amount that should be discussed by a separate topic and not appear in the issues of a gas contract with Gazprom, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia, in turn, during the two-day negotiations, expressed their readiness to provide a fair price for gas and a discount of 25 percent in exchange for repayment of accumulated debt in the amount of about 700 million dollars within three years, excluding Transnistria.
“Historic debt is a very big debt that we do not recognize, we do not believe that it should be part of the negotiations on the gas contract. This is a topic for a separate conversation, it must be discussed in another context,” said Gavrilitsa, not Reaffirming however, that the topic of debt returns rose to the negotiations.
previously it became known that Russia’s negotiations with Moldova on the gas issue at the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak ended to no avail, the conclusion of the long-term contact “Gazprom” is unlikely, and there is a risk of complete termination of deliveries.
Moldova faced the energy crisis and was forced to introduce the PE mode due to a gas deficit. The country ended the contract with the Russian Gazprom – in October, the agreement was extended for a month. Now Moldova purchases gas from Russia at a market price of approximately $ 790 per thousand cubic meters.
