The American Union of Protection of Civil Freedards (ACLU) demanded a change in education policy in Hawaii (USA) and pay compensation for moral damage caused by a decade black girl and her mother. The requirement is associated with the arrest of a minor, held after she painted a caricature on one of classmates who offended her. The details of the incident leads CNN.
We are talking about the incident 2020, which happened in one of the schools of Honolulu: the parents of the student depicted in the drawing of the Black Girl, complained to her and demanded to punish. A police arrived at the child, she was handcuffed and taken to the department. After that, the girl was also actually deprived of the parent: her mother took the parental rights.
ACLU believes that the conflict is negotiated, and because of it it was not worth resorting to so fundamental measures. Now the Union submits a complaint against the Department of Education, Police and Prosecutor General. In addition, the family of the arrested girl should pay compensation in the amount of 500 thousand dollars, consider human rights defenders.
ACLU adds that the drawing made several students. In addition, a ten-year-old girl whose initiative was made by caricature, refused to spread it further. Details about what is shown in the figure, do not disclose.
School and the police should answer the request of human rights defenders until November 8.
