Russia is considering plans to remove the “Taliban” radical movement (prohibited in Russia) from the official list of terrorists, but it is recognized as at the UN level. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session as part of the XVIII Annual Meeting of the Valdai Club, the correspondent “Trent.ru” reports.
“We think that we are moving in this direction,” said the Russian leader. He stressed that the decision will depend on the development of the situation in Afghanistan – the Russian side cooperates with representatives of the Taliban and expects further moves from them.
Putin also acknowledged that the presence of terrorist groups in the country remains: in particular, from the terrorist attacks of the Islamic State (a terrorist movement prohibited in Russia) is dying both civilians and Taliban representatives.
Earlier in the same speech, the president said that Russia and China are interested in a peaceful environment in Afghanistan and are ready to help with the restoration of the country and security. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, October 20, held a meeting with the delegation of Taliban in Moscow. According to her results in the Kremlin, they stated in Afghanistan humanitarian aid.
