Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Government to protect the country from the consequences of the European Energy Crisis. The order for the development of relevant measures is designated in the list of instructions on the basis of a meeting with members of the Cabinet of Ministers, published on the Kremlin website.
“Government of the Russian Federation: to develop a set of measures to neutralize the risks of formation in the Russian Federation negative effects of energy deficit in Europe, including destabilization of nitrogen fertilizer markets, metallurgical products and food,” the document says. The government needs to carry out the order until November 1.
During the meeting, on October 20, Putin noted that the energy crisis in Europe is not only not profitable to Russia, but can also negatively affect domestic companies, including Gazprom. According to the forecasts of the Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the prospects for improving the situation in the gas market of Europe are not now. The official also warned about the possible increase in prices for foods due to lack of fertilizers for agriculture – energy deficit and high prices for it were forced to close some plants.
Putin has already refuted the statements about the profitability of the European energy crisis for Russia. During the Russian Energy Week, the president called the charges of “full Chushia and delircom” that Russia uses gas as a weapon.
