Russian leader Vladimir Putin congratulated President of Uzbekistan of Shavkat Mirzieev with a convincing victory in the election of the head of the republic. During the policy conversation discussed the development of bilateral relations, reported on the website of the Kremlin.
In particular, the leaders confirmed mutual attitude to strengthening cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in all areas, as well as the expansion of cooperation in solving topical issues in the region and the world. It is noted that the President of Russia also sent a congratulatory telegram to Mirzierev.
“The results of the voting fully confirmed your high political authority, as well as the support of your course aimed at the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan and the protection of its interests in the international arena,” Putin stressed.
Presidential elections in Uzbekistan took place on Sunday, October 24. According to the Commission, 16,036,914 voters came to the polling stations, which amounted to 80.8 percent of the general list.
It is noted that the necessary threshold of 33 percent turnout was overcome at 11:00 local time (09:00 Moscow time).
