Deputies of the Socialist Party of Moldova, whose leader is the former President of the country Igor Dodon, could not achieve concessions in the negotiations from the head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian President Dmitry Kozak for gas supplies. About the failure attempt by the opposition told the TASS source who participated in the meeting.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, members of the delegation did not lead convincing arguments in favor of non-market mechanisms for the formation of the price of Russian energy carriers for deliveries to Moldova.
“Referring to the inexperience and” youth “of the new Moldovan government, the Socialists asked Moscow to prevent the termination of gas supplies to avoid the energy collapse and the subsequent humanitarian catastrophe in the Republic of Moldova,” the source said.
Moldova faced the energy crisis and was forced to introduce the PE mode due to a gas deficit. On October 25, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova, Andrei Spõna, stated that the government will continue negotiations with the Russian company Gazprom on Gaza’s supply on October 27 in St. Petersburg. He noted that this decision was made in the interests of citizens of the country.
Earlier, on October 23, it was reported that the Russian-Moldovan negotiations on Gaza at the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak ended to no avail, the new fuel contract was not concluded.
Moscow offered Chisinau fair market price and prepared to provide a discount of 25 percent. However, the only condition for its receipt is the payment of accumulated debt in the amount of about 700 million dollars, excluding Transnistria.
