Israel settlements on the West Bank of the Jordan River – illegitimate, says in a statement of the European Commission of October 25.
The European Union condemned Israel’s plans to build 1355 new housing units in these territories that Tel Aviv voiced on October 24. “According to international law, these settlements are illegal. They are the main obstacle to achieving a bilateral agreement [between Israel and Palestine],” they say in Brussels. The EU recalled that they did not recognize any changes within the boundaries that existed to the six-day war and called Israel to stop new construction.
In August, Israel has already declared the construction of additional objects on the West Bank of Jordan, despite the protests of the world community. Individual EU countries have already accused Tel Aviv in the actual annexation of these territories.
The territory of the West Bank of the Jordan River is under the control of Israel’s army since 1967. Then these and some other lands were occupied by Tel Aviv on the basis of the war with the coalition of Arab countries. Since then, Israel has been built up by Israel, settling their citizens.
