Latvian tried to escape from police because of COVID-19 and blew gas balloon

A resident of Latvia hoped to escape from the police, blowing up their own car. Later he tried to catch a patrol car, but was detained. The incident occurred on October 31. The story transmits BNS.

In the Gulbensky district of Latvia, the patrol service stopped the Volkswagen car, which violated the curfew, introduced to curb the distribution of COVID-19. When the police approached the car to find out the cause of the violation, they managed to feel the smell of gas – after a moment, the driver blew up a gas cylinder inside the cabin. The police dropped the shock wave, and the demolition itself was thrown out of the car.

After the explosion, the violator tried to catch a patrol car. He was stopped by one of the police who had a man almost selected a tablet weapon. The officers managed to cause reinforcement in time, the driver was neutralized by joint efforts.

According to the results of the incident, one of the police was hospitalized with severe injury, and the suspect did not suffer. After the arrest, he stated that he decided to be deed because of “COVID-19 and vaccination.” Now he faces imprisonment under 20 years.

On October 18, the main epidemiologist of the Latvian Center for the Prevention and Control of Diseases Yuri Uzelzov said that the republic ranks first in the world in terms of proliferation of coronavirus.
