Head of WHO thanked Lavrov for Putin’s initiative

Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adan Gebresus expressed gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov for the initiative of President Vladimir Putin on the mutual recognition of vaccines against Coronavirus by the countries of the Group of Twenty (G20). This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov on the air Youtube program “SolovievLive”.

During the meeting with the CEO of WHO, held within the G20 summit, Lavrov recalled the need to include Russian vaccines from COVID-19 into the list of drugs that WHO will be able to recommend for use in emergency mode.

At the first working meeting of the G20 Summit, which began on Saturday, October 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that many countries needing cannot get equal access to coronavirus vaccines and other resources due to dishonest competition. He also suggested that Coronavirus will still be a danger to people for a long time. For this reason, it is important to work out the mechanisms of system and operational updates of vaccines.

G20 summit opened in Rome on November 30th. Russian President Vladimir Putin participates in the G20 Summit on Video Communications due to the epidemiological situation associated with coronavirus. His performance takes place in two sessions: “Global Economics and Global Health” and “Climate Changes and Environment”.
