All conflicting sides of the conflict in the Ethiopian region are guilty of violating human rights and extreme cruelty. This is stated in a joint report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission of Ethiopia. The report was presented on November 3 in Swiss Geneva, reports ABC News.
The document covers the time interval between November 3, 2020 and June 21, 2021. It provides such crimes as illegal murders, extrajudicial executions, torture, sexual and gender violence, disorders of refugees and forced displacement of civilians.
“The conflict in the typrah was marked by extreme cruelty. The severity and seriousness of the violations that we documented, emphasizes the need to attract the perpetrators of all parties to justice,” the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michel Bachelet, who submitted a report.
According to her, the parties must immediately stop the conflict. Ethiopia and Eritrea governments were encouraged to conduct an investigation into all the facts of human rights violations submitted in the report. It also describes the need to take measures to protect civilians and infrastructure.
November 2 became known that the authorities in Ethiopia introduced an emergency regime against the background of the exacerbation of hostilities between the forces of the government and the rebels from the “Popular Front of Liberation” (NFH).
