Moldavian President Maya Sandu held telephone negotiations with the executing Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. This was told about the official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany Steffen Zaibert, RIA Novosti reports.
He said that during a conversation, the leaders of the two states discussed the domestic political and economic situation in Moldova. In particular, such topics as the country’s gas supply and the reform program were touched upon. Zaibert also noted that the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict was one of those negotiating.
According to the representative of the German Cabinet, Merkel assured Sanda that the German government will continue to support the pro-European reform course in the republic.
October 29 Gazprom and Moldovagaz extended a contract for the supply of gas to Moldova for five years. The Russian company stated that the supply of Moldavian consumers will begin on November 1 on mutually beneficial terms.
Earlier, Sanda reported that the external partners of Moldova intend to support the country to overcome the gas crisis. The politician stressed that the country has already appealed to the import of fuel to Germany, Poland and Romania. At the same time, the president of the republic laid the responsibility for the current situation. In her opinion, they did not take care of the energy security of the state in time.
