The process of obtaining permission from Germany to use the Northern Flow-2 gas pipeline can stretch until the beginning of May 2022. According to Bloomberg, it can only run it after the German side transmits all the necessary documents.
The fact is that the Federal Network Agency FRG should make a preliminary decision on certification until January 8, then it will be transferred to a two-month consideration of the European Commission. Her verdict will not have a mandatory nature, but the theoretically the process turns out to be threatened for another two months, until May 8. And only after that, the German regulator will be able to issue a license gas pipeline. At the same time, the delivery by “Northern Stream-2” can begin the day after receiving the document.
On the other hand, the agency notes, bureaucratic rolls can accelerate against the background of an aggravating energy crisis. The former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel supported the project and the same most likely to hold her potential receiver Olaf Scholz, presupposes Bloomberg.
Earlier in November, Bavaria Prime Minister Markus Zedeger called on the North Stream-2 gas pipeline as soon as possible. According to him, the German authorities need a “price brake” and a gas strategy that will help the FRG to provide fuel supplies. Zeder noted that one of these measures should be the work of the gas pipeline. The FRG Ministry of Economy sent a positive conclusion on the certification of the gas pipeline to the Federal Network Agency (BNetza). The department considered that he does not represent hazards for gas supply in Germany and the European Union.
