Moldova partially redeemed the debt for Russian gas, the press secretary of Moldovagaz Alexander Barbov said, writes RIA Novosti.
“Moldavian side repaid debt to Gazprom for fuel, which was received in September,” said Barbov.
Autumn Moldova collided with a gas crisis against the background of difficulties with new agreements with Gazprom, however, on October 29, Chisinau managed to agree with the Russian company to extend the contract for the supply of gas to the republic for five years. The condition was the debt audit in 2022.
In November, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Moldova, Andrei Spõna, reported that the price of gas will be reviewed monthly. He also said that the republic does not want to increase the existing debt and intends to fully pay the obtained gas.
Fuel supplies to Moldova began on November 1. The President of Maya Sanda stated that he was pleased with the agreement, and in the Kremlin, they called the contract profitable for Gazprom. Debt payment negotiations will continue after audit.
