Spain is provided with gas for the next one and a half months. This was told by the Minister of the Environment and Energy of the European Country of Teresa Ribera, which Quotes Reuters.
According to her, natural gas reserves in underground warehouses of the country are able to meet the needs of industry and the country’s population for the next 43 days.
The application was coming the day after the termination of deliveries along the Magreb-Europe trunk pipe, which runs from Algeria through the territory of Morocco. Algeria’s authorities ceased delivery and decided not to extend the contract due to the Morocco policy, which they consider hostile.
In August, Algeria ripped diplomatic relations with Morocco due to the declarations of Rabat on the Cabilia – region, officially part of Algeria. Moroccan authorities insist on its right to independence.
“Magrib-Europe” is one of two gas pipelines in which the fuel comes from Algeria to Spain. Deliveries on the second pipeline continue.
