The Armed Forces of India and the United States began large-scale military exercises in East Ladakha near the border with China. This became known from the publication of the Times of India newspaper.
As part of joint maneuvers, US and Indian military work the seizure of the territory in the rear of the enemy, as well as the onset of tank troops and the use of drum helicopters. As the publication writes, three-day exercises pass in the mountains at a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius.
“The goal of maneuvers is to give a signal to China to refrain from any actions to discharge tensions on the northern borders of India,” said the source of Times of India.
Earlier, the Indian political scientist Srikant Condapalley pointed out that the growing tension between India and China in the border areas is unlikely to fall into the war between two nuclear powers. He recalled that during the last negotiations of India and China failed to come to the arrangement of troops in the Ladakh valley, and the countries only continued to increase their contingent along the so-called actual control line at the border.
Indo-Chinese conflict in East Ladakha aggravated in May 2020, when bloody collisions occurred between the border guards of countries. The conflict caused by the lack of a clear demarcation line continues from the 1950s. China does not recognize the so-called McMagon line that determined the border between the Tibet and the possessions of India. Both sides declare the illegal occupation of their lands.
