The strongest sunny flash of class X occurred in the sun, it was recorded in the evening on Thursday, October 28. This was reported in the laboratory of X-ray astronomy of the Sun of the Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, RIA Novosti reports.
Flash began at 18.17 Moscow time and lasted 31 minutes. In total, in two days, 28 weak, medium and strong flashes occurred in the sun.
In the laboratory, the flare activity index was raised to the “orange” and only a bit not reaching the “red” level.
In April, scientists of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences found an unknown type of coronal rain in the sun. The new variety of coronal rain arises along the open structures of the magnetic field when rebupping magnetic lines. Higher open magnetic field structures are connected to the underlying closed loops, forming a magnetic failure, which rushes plasma.
